| Words from Our Chair Wednesday, October 07, 2009
I want to thank each member of our organization and say how honored I have been to be your Chair for the last three years. We have made great strives from when we first met. Many people thought it would not survive the changes and our doors would close, but I want to thank the Board of Directors that worked hard every day because they believe in the mission of this organization. I am grateful to the membership because they too believed in the importance of this Organization is Tampa Bay.
The Tampa Bay Hispanic Chamber of Commerce celebrates another birthday because of members like you that believe and have a place in this organization. Imagine how this Chamber came to be 32 years ago, it took leaders of our community the desire to understand, articulate the needs of our community, and envision a future where our Hispanic Heritage would not be lost. They saw how we would strive as a Community to become the best by helping each other grow our business and our community.

| Hispanics in our Community Tuesday, August 11, 2009
August has been a historic and proud month for all hispanics as Judge Sonia Sotomayor was sworn in as the first hispanic and third woman in the Supreme Court.
Hispanics in our community!!
Hispanics have reached all levels of leadership in the communities we serve, as well as, across this nation and abroad representing this nation. We know that there have been and still are very influential people that have worked in every aspect of this nation's legislative, judicial and executive branches of our government to make this nation a successful one. We have fought not only for our rights but for those that are weaker as a people. We are the embodiment of what John F. Kennedy asked us to do: "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country".

| In survey, many adults say they're not sold on social networks Tuesday, August 11, 2009
SAN FRANCISCO - Aug. 3, 2009 - Social-networking services such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter may be generating lots of buzz. But old-fashioned, non-digital, face-to-face conversations aren't out of vogue just yet.
About 87 percent of 1,000 adults questioned in June said they prefer to deal with other people in person instead of via computers or smart phones, according to a survey from Brightkite, a mobile social-networking service, and GfK Technology, a market research agency.
What's more, half of the respondents said that they do not use social networks.
"Social networks are a great tool to connect with people, but they don't replace the pleasure we get from meeting friends," says Rob Lawson, Brightkite's chief marketing officer.

| We begin our celebration of our Hispanic Roots Monday, September 15, 2008
This month we begin our celebration of our Hispanic Roots. It is wonderful to be Hispanic!!! There was a time when many of our ancestors thought that they had to hide their heritage to be accepted in a new society. They instructed their children to speak English only so they would be accepted and not discriminated against. I know of a specific event in Spanish Harlem in New York City where the Hispanic Community was treated with disrespect and even the governmental agencies refused to provide services they provided to non Hispanic Communities. The Hispanic Community with an Advocate Group called the Young Lords decided to rebel; it appears it was the only way to get the attention of the people who made the decisions.

| Our New Image Saturday, March 15, 2008
The Tampa Bay Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has a new identity! You may ask why a new logo after 34 years. The Board of Directors decided it was time for a new image at our Chamber to refresh our image and begin anew. This change comes after many discussions for a new image, identity and logo. This change was not a new idea, it has been something the previous boards had spoke about, but it never came to realization. Our new logo defi nes our commitment to bridge our people. Historically, the Skyway Bridge connects people on both sides of the Bay area. We found that the bridge tells a signifi cant story of determination and pride in Tampa Bay. It refl ects the commitment had by peopleto rebuild the bridge after a tragedy, make it stronger, and higher with a magnifi cent view from all areas of the Bay. The Skyway Bridge gave a new promise of hope to our communities and it is known throughout the world.
